Top-level domain: the rightmost label in a domain name, appearing after the last dot (e.g., .com, .org, .io, .uk). TLDs are administered by IANA, which delegates operation of each TLD to a registry operator. The root zone — maintained by IANA — contains the authoritative list of all TLDs and the nameservers responsible for each.
