QUIC (RFC 9000): a general-purpose transport protocol built on UDP that integrates TLS 1.3 encryption, multiplexed streams, and connection migration into a single layer. Unlike TCP, a lost packet blocks only the stream it belongs to, eliminating connection-level head-of-line blocking. QUIC is the transport for HTTP/3 and enables 1-RTT (new) and 0-RTT (resumed) connections.
