L3 cache

RU: L3 cache

The last level of on-die CPU cache, shared across all cores on the same socket. L3 is the largest and slowest of the on-chip caches. It acts as a shared pool that reduces accesses to main memory and enables cache-to-cache transfers between cores — a core reading a line modified by another core can get it from L3 rather than DRAM.
