V8 Isolate

RU: V8 Isolate

A self-contained V8 instance with its own heap, garbage collector, and compilation pipeline. Multiple isolates can run concurrently in one process but share no JavaScript state; objects cannot cross isolate boundaries without serialization. Node.js Worker threads each own a separate isolate; Cloudflare Workers use isolates to host many tenants within one process.
