RU: candidate

In Raft consensus, a candidate is a server that has timed out waiting for heartbeats from the current leader and has begun a new election. It increments its term, votes for itself, and broadcasts RequestVote RPCs to peers; it becomes leader if it collects a majority of votes before the election timeout expires.
