PostgreSQL's background daemon that automatically runs VACUUM and ANALYZE on tables, reclaiming space from dead tuples left by MVCC updates and deletes. It fires when a table's dead-tuple count exceeds a configurable threshold; long-running transactions block it by holding the xmin horizon, letting bloat accumulate.
