A routing scheme where the same IP address is announced by multiple servers in different locations; BGP delivers each packet to the nearest node as seen by BGP routing policy, which may not be the geographically closest. Used by DNS root servers and CDN edge PoPs to reduce latency and absorb DDoS traffic across many sites.
